Mastering the AccessibilityMonitor Dashboard

Your dashboard is the command center for accessibility monitoring. Understanding each component helps you work more efficiently and make data-driven decisions about accessibility improvements.

Dashboard Overview

When you log in, you'll see several key areas:

  1. Header Navigation: Access main sections and settings
  2. Trust Score Widget: Your overall accessibility health
  3. Issues Summary: Quick view of problem counts by severity
  4. Recent Activity: Latest scans and changes
  5. Quick Actions: Common tasks and shortcuts

Understanding Your Trust Score

The Trust Score is a 0-100 metric representing your website's overall accessibility health. Here's how it's calculated:

Score Calculation Formula

Trust Score = 100 - Weighted Issue Impact

Where:
- Critical issues: 4 points each
- Major issues: 2 points each
- Minor issues: 0.5 points each

The score is normalized based on total pages scanned, so larger sites aren't unfairly penalized.

Score Ranges

  • 90-100 (Excellent): Your site meets high accessibility standards
  • 70-89 (Good): Minor improvements needed, generally accessible
  • 50-69 (Needs Work): Significant issues affecting user experience
  • Below 50 (Critical): Major accessibility barriers present

Improving Your Score

Focus on these areas in order:

  1. Critical Issues First: Each critical fix has the biggest score impact
  2. High-Traffic Pages: Prioritize issues on your most-visited pages
  3. Systematic Fixes: Address one issue type across all pages rather than one page at a time

Issues Breakdown Panel

The issues panel provides detailed categorization:

By Severity

  • Critical (Red): WCAG Level A failures, must fix for basic accessibility
  • Major (Orange): WCAG Level AA failures, important for compliance
  • Minor (Yellow): Best practices and Level AAA recommendations

By WCAG Principle

Issues are also categorized by the four WCAG principles:

  • Perceivable: Can users perceive the content? (images, colors, media)
  • Operable: Can users operate the interface? (keyboard, navigation)
  • Understandable: Can users understand the content? (language, predictability)
  • Robust: Does content work with assistive technologies? (parsing, compatibility)
